"Career Services Is Working To Get Crusaders Working"!
Full-Time and Part-Time Jobs
The Career Center maintains the current full-time and part-time job openings on this website. In addition, students may register for CruSitters & CruTutors which enables students to receive e-blasts of new childcare or tutoring postings.
Credentials
Setting up a credentials file is especially vital to you since it places your biographical sheet, transcripts, letters of reference, copies of commendations and recognitions, resume, and other materials in one central place. It is maintained for you up to five years after graduation and mailed to whomever you wish to have a copy. A permanent record is kept which lists when and to whom it has been sent.
Resume Workshops
Workshops are offered at a variety of times each semester to help you develop an effective resume. Individual resume appointments may also be made. In our global marketplace and economy, competition is the greatest it has ever been.
A 5-star resume is only the beginning in the job-search process. A career coach will help you customize your resume to the targeted and semi-targeted search for that internship, part-time, or full-time position.
Interview Skills
Seminars are offered at a variety of times each semester to help you prepare for that critical job interview. Topics include questions most frequently asked by interviewers, when the interview actually begins, how to prepare, how to dress and present yourself, how to handle nervous habits, and more. There are different interview techniques for business, health services, and education. Mock interview appointments need advance scheduling.
Career Assessment
This is an important part of the career planning process. The Career Center has several skills assessments online to help in your career decision-making process. The assesements are designed to provide you with information about yourself including interests, abilities, and values. We offer the Newly Revised Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). These are offered to students and alumni at no charge and may be completed at home or in the center. Call Career Services to get the site address, username and password to take the assessments. Upon completion, an assessment review will reveal the results and help you map out a plan from the information. Appointments can be made by calling 254-295-4691 or emailing careerservices@umhb.edu.
