JOB TITLE                 Case Manager/Immigration Counselor 

PROGRAM                Immigration Consultation Services (ICS) 

JOB SUMMARY

The case manager/counselor’s primary function is to provide legal technical assistance to eligible individuals, as well as clerical and administrative support to the entire Immigration Consultation Services Program, as assigned.   The case manager will also conduct intake interviews and screen prospective clients with diverse ethnic backgrounds for immigration benefits, and assist with the preparation of applications/petitions for individuals who are eligible to apply for immigration benefits.

JOB DUTIES

  • Performs comprehensive assessments on client needs according to established standards.
  • Develops and implements immigration plan with the client to address identified needs within established time frame.
  • Solicits information and accurately prepare immigration forms/documents and correspondence with US government agencies.
  • Monitor and evaluate client’s immigration progress and adjust plan as necessary.
  • Complete all necessary documentation to ensure compliance with US government agency requirements, licensing requirements, COA standards, and agency quality assurance standards.
  • Advocates for clients at service providers or agencies, and in the community.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with relevant funding and monitoring entities, faith based organizations, social service providers, and other community partners. Participate in appropriate community collaborations.
  • Presents information and responds to questions from groups of community partners, managers, clients, and the general public.
  • Maintains confidential client information.

Necessary Skills/Experience: 
QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Criminal Justice, Political Science or related fields and one year experience in social services or a combination of education and experience. • Must be bi-lingual (English/Spanish) with the ability to write and speak both languages fluently. • Skilled in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet usage. • First level of accreditation status by the Board of Immigration Appeals or ability to obtain within 6 months is required. • Preference will be given to candidates who have had experience with immigration issues/benefits/process.
Schedule Requirements: 
WORK HOURS AND LOCATION Regular office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Employees will work five days per week, including every other Saturday. Position is located at main campus on Thornhill Drive.
