JOB TITLE           Volunteer Specialist 

DIVISION              Development, Volunteer and In-Kind Donations 

JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of the Volunteer Service Specialist is to meet the volunteer needs of Catholic Charities and its programs and develop, in collaboration with the fund development office, “Charity of Choice” volunteers.  The main responsibilities include introducing potential volunteers and donors to the work of Catholic Charities, engage them in serving, develop ongoing relationships, and to develop, implement and maintain systems for identifying, collecting, tracking, and distributing community resources which will support various programs within the agency.  This Specialist will also participate in community outreach activities to recruit volunteers and generate and sustain in-kind donations and support.

JOB DUTIES

  1. Fulfill the volunteer needs of Catholic Charities in both administration and programmatic capacity.
  2. Coordinate Catholic Charities volunteers: track volunteer applications, develop and implement volunteer policy, work with program coordinators to ensure volunteers are fulfilled with program placement.
  3. Evaluate the interest and candidacy of each volunteer applicant.
  4. Schedule, organize, and present volunteer orientations.
  5. Follow up and maintain a working relationship with volunteers.
  6. Compile volunteer time sheets for monthly reports.
  7. Update and maintain volunteer job descriptions and procedures manuals.
  8. Coordinate projects for volunteer groups.
  9. Develop, implement, and maintain a system for volunteer retention.  
  10. Field phone calls, and walk-ins regarding volunteer inquiries.
  11. Facilitate communication with program personnel, regularly, to determine needs of programs, establish priorities, monitor the changing needs of programs, and become informed of contractual requirements, related to volunteers, of programs.
  12. Serve as a central point of contact for volunteers involved in the programs

Necessary Skills/Experience: 
QUALIFICATIONS 1. Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, social work or related field is preferred. 2. Must have experience in working with volunteers and donors.
Schedule Requirements: 
Regular office hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Position is located at the main campus on Thornhill Drive.
