| SENIOR JOB SEARCH CHECKLIST: * Your career center and library offer tools to do your career research. * Create a resume and cover letter. * Ask every person you meet for three people you should contact. * Search the internet and submit resumes to job databases. * Go to career fairs. * Look for other areas your skills can be used. * Join an association in your profession or a student leadership organization. * Attend a corporate meeting and network. * Conduct an informational interview to discuss the kinds of jobs a that exist in a specific company. * Send out thank-you letters to everyone who interviews you. * Follow up on all the business cards you obtain. |
| THE PROS OF PART-TIME JOBS: A PT job is a good way to round out a resume, prove you're a driven self-starter, as well as lead to letters of recommendation, which are invaluable in a job search. FILLING A RESUME GAP - Long gaps in a resume can cause employers to question. Taking a PT job will help pay student loans and provide an income while looking for permanent employment.
